walls of flowers

Couldn't stop thinking about these pretty flowers after I pinned them...

wishing some of those, or these, would magically bloom across a wall around here....

Want to make some? here's a fabric diy and a paper diy that look simple enough for a sunday afternoon...

Having some of the family up for Miss N's bday - that's as good an excuse as any to cover your walls in flowers, isn't it?!!  Have a great weekend!   x am

If you are organized, you may have some forced branches...

1 2

If you didn't get branches inside two or three weeks ago (aside from Martha, who does that?!!),
ordinary branches wrapped with yarn (made mine already :) are an easy option
or just leave them bare and adorn with lacy butterflies..

Want something more original?
This is a fantastic rustic look- carrots, radish, and lettuce on display with pansies..

How about a bit of glam?

(these are really taking off as an option for bridal arrangements -
I was outbid on ebay for several lots of these beauties!)

or simply add a touch of pretty with silk roses as napkin rings....

speaking of napkins, that will be tomorrows post -
I love a cloth napkin,
I've found some wonderful DIY's to share :)

I'm making mine tonight - what are you up to?

Better Than a Dozen Roses...

I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for flowers.

I love the smell of fresh flowers through the house, especially in the winter.
Right now you can find hyacinths everywhere, they smell SO wonderful, and afterwards I put them in the cold cellar until I can plant them in the garden.  We had heaps and heaps at our old house and the neighbours were always saying how wonderful our street smelled in the spring!

But when Valentines day rolls around, and the florists are charging our guys ridiculous amounts for a little bundle of blooms, I don't like to receive them.

I prefer when D. comes home with lilies on a tuesday, for no reason, other than he knows it will make me happy :)
I'm lucky to have a sweetie that gets it.

Here is a lovely idea for roses that will be appreciated for a long time.

Felt roses, beautiful.  They have ruffled pillows that are available in other colours, too, for a less literal take on the flower idea.
Oh so pretty. A spritz of rose water and you're all set...

til next time..
