a day in the life: thrifting, styling and photo editing

What you choose to do with your precious days off really reflect the person you are, don't they? Yesterday, I went out thrifting. There is nothing like poking around in a dusty shop full of vintage loveliness to make my heart sing! I haven't been out in ages, and I found a bunch of small things for the house as well as some pieces for a friend who is moving and needs a bit of staging done prior to listing her home.

Our bedroom is in flux mode right now - on the weekend we moved our bed frame to the guest room, because I am going to make a new upholstered version - pics will follow :) I'm planning a to incorperate "dressing cabinet", to store and display my favourite accessories, and so need a few bits for jewelry display. Enter this charming little tiered - tray brass and laquer number - perfect for the jewelry I'm wearing everyday. As you can see, it's already settled into it's new home...

I bought it, brought it home, and immediately cleaned it, styled up this little display and took photos!
Please tell me I'm not the only one :)  x am

the weekend: finds and a purge

Today we are tackling the playroom,

The darlings won't even go in to this black hole of chaos any more.

Don't they look thrilled to bits to be in here, sorting?!!

We've finally reached the point where they are over 

barbies, transformers, bratz dolls, bakugons, littlest pet shop, hot wheels, etc...

It's time for a bit of a purge.

By the end of the weekend they will both have one rubbermaid bin filled with their faves,

and the rest is being given away.

It's a little bittersweet, because they are growing up,

but more sweet than bitter :)

Lately I have been sighing over all things campaign.

however, since some other projects are happening here right now, 

1st dibs pricing isn't quite aligned with my budget of, say, nothing, lol.

The plethora of success stories other bloggers have had finding vintage pieces left me hoping

 I would discover a little slice of campaign heaven for myself...

and then, yesterday, there she was, on kijiji.

(The photos were pretty bad, thankfully, or I probably would have had to compete for this one.)

She needs a makeover, life has been a tad unkind...

I'll start with stripping the top section 

to reveal what she's got going on under all that unfortunate mahogany stain.

If it's lovely she will be re-stained, but if it's not....

Hoping to get started this weekend, but the kids have a day off tomorrow...

 and between a sleepover, trip to Wonderland, three kids bday parties, 

a bbq (here!), and a 60th birthday dinner...

 it may be next week :)

Thankfully, it's the last weekend of kids swimming lessons saturday morning - 

don't know what I was thinking when I booked those - 

I haven't been able to get out junktiquing at any yard sales all spring!!

Fossil has a gorgeous spring collection, as always.

I try to stay away from their site, 

because it requires too much restraint..

I mean really - look at this!

but the other day I meandered over, and look what I found:

A whole collection of hip one-offs -

everything from vintage jean jackets to that adorable tv salt and pepper shaker

  kitschy cool!

Wouldn't those vintage game boards be fabulous hung in a family room?
